Renewability: Digital Locks’ Sinister Future
UEFI
UEFI stands for “Unified Extensible Firmware Interface.” UEFI is a technical specification that computers can use when they’re turned on to check the “signature” of their operating systems and make sure that it matches an approved signature from the manufacturer. This can be very useful for determining whether a computer has been compromised by a rootkit or other malicious software—infected systems will no longer be able to match the list of known-good signatures.
